A mother is reunited with her grievously wounded son. Sgt. José Pequeño suffered a devastating brain injury from a grenade tossed into his Humvee in Iraq in March 2006. Pequeño was the youngest police chief in New Hampshire. He also was in the National Guard and volunteered to go to Iraq. On March 1, 2006, he was guarding an Iraqi police station when soldiers got a tip it was going to be hit. One of the bombers' cars hit the station and blew it up. Pequeño was calling the base when the grenade struck his Humvee. The driver died instantly. When they found Pequeño, who was wearing a helmet, part of his brain was outside the vehicle in the sand.
Melbourne Zoo's new Asian elephant, named Baby for the time being, keeps a close eye on her mother after going on display to the public for the first time on February 10. Baby is only the second elephant born in Australia and the first one born from successful artificial insemination.

They were fabricated from a soft polymer to serve as a tool for the measurement of cell traction forces. During sample processing, the competition betweeen pillar stiffness and surface adhesion is fierce, and when lateral collapse occurs, pillar-to-pillar adhesion is triumphant.
